Walmart's corruptions
When you think about getting a job; think twice about Walmart. I thought about it myself. After orientation, I never went back. Walmart has always been blasted in the media for being corrupt. At this Walmart that I applied at, it was an $11 starting. On orientation day though, their was a few things that did not sit right with me. The first thing was the "open door" policy. In their mind, this works better that a union. Then the trainer showed an anti union video. That was when I started to rethink everything. The video mentioned how Walmart looked out for their employees, and how unions don't look out for individuals. The reason why there are unions is because corporations such as Walmart, like to screw over their workers. Last year in May of 2015, the anti union training video that store locations used was leaked. According to Inside the Times, in April of 2015 the corporation had shut down five stores on the claim of plumbing issues. 2500 people were out of a job. They were informed on the 13th of April, three days later Walmart had not applied for the permits required. Finally on the 20th a California store had submitted a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board because of work terrible work conditions. The video itself states that Walmart has an open policy to communicate with it's workers so there is no need for a union. I also witnessed the video shaming anyone who wanted to join a union. Saying again that Walmart has an open policy with worker and they do not think it is in the best interest of the employees. The major tip off is when someone in the video claims that they do not understand why anyone would want to spend money to hurt a corporation. The video calls people selfish for joining a union, that whoever joins one is only thinking of themselves and not anyone else. I wondered if they were for real They were, for the rest of orientation they talked about the open door policy and how it worked. Walmart does not care about you as a person. It is a corporation and it only cares about what it is inside it's own pocket. The more money they make for themselves, the more they want to throw anyone that they can under a bus. Marijuana is still a schedule one drug, but even in states that has it legalized for medicinal use, Walmart states that even with medicinal use, that employee will be fired. They make their employees sign a document making sure that they understand this. I may not be a person that has a prescription, but that makes me feel queasy. According to NBC News a Michigan man back in 2013 was fired for using Medical Cannabis to treat his Sinus Cancer. Walmart stated that they did nothing wrong. The man never went to work while under the substance. They even claim that if you use to much of your prescription medicines that you can be fired. I don't understand how they can decide that someone is taking too much of a prescribed medication. Abusing prescriptions drugs is not what I am talking about. The document mentions that if an employee is found taking more than what they are supposed to they can be fired. They do not clarify on how much is too much. Not to mention to get employee medical, it takes a year of full time. This Walmart does not even start people out at full time. So in theory it could take someone two or three years, maybe longer to get medical through the company.
